The purpose of the Quality and Continuous Improvemnt intern is to support the Gratz and Hegins production facilities with several quality initiatives. The first will be working with Glass Technical Services Manager to establish certification program and video training for critical glass insulating processes. As time allows, the intern will also work on an A3 project around units damaged in transit to customers.


  • Learn key glass insulating processes
  • Document Key Process Steps
  • Partner with representatives in key functional areas (Production, Quality, IT and potentially Marketing) to setup and video tape training modules for key IGU processes.
  • Research cost of quality drivers around damaged window units
  • Gather baseline data on loading stresses.
  • Identify top unit damage drivers
  • Partner with engineering, loading and transportation teams to identify packaging improvements.


  • Junior or Senior in College with pursuing a BS Degree in Engineering
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Ability to work flexible hours depending upon the needs of the department
  • Ability to travel between Gratz and Hegins PA plants
  • Being familiar with effective problem-solving techniques
  • Basic understanding of math equations. Statistical concept experience required
  • Solid self-motivated skills
