  • Overview

    Works closely with development, manufacturing, tooling, test labs, and customers, to clarify and meet form, fit and functional requirements while assuring manufacturability, satisfying customer requests, and keeping projects on schedule.

    Responsibilities

    • Work closely with engineering staff to develop accurate and complete modeling and drawing packages for window and door components and assemblies
    • Prepare and issue documentation packages to multiple customers outside of the engineering group.
    • Support multiple project and client deadlines and deliverables
    • Ability to perform guided and non-guided work on projects with minimal supervision
    • Generates 3D CAD models and 2D CAD drawings to be compliant with engineering and quality standards
    • Generates concept renderings for presentations and marketing literature
    • Prepares engineering and customer samples
    • Provides technical assistance to the product development organization
    • Check layouts, assemblies, details, bills of material and other related drawings and documents
    • Analyze design for conformity to standard industry and engineering department practices
    • Review design for optimum simplicity and economy of manufacture; coordinate with designers, purchasing, manufacturing engineering, and field service
    • Perform various applicable routine design calculations to insure design integrity and compliance with design specifications
    • Keep current on drafting standards and procedures and recommend changes where appropriate
    • Must be able to work within and maintain an engineering document control system
    • Becomes cross-trained in all areas of the Engineering Services and Engineering business functions to include, but not limited to, product testing and rating, sales support, and participating in Help Desk services

     

     

    Qualifications

    • Associates degree or certificate in Drafting and Design Technology, or equivalent experience
    • Preferred 3-5 years drafting/modeling experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Experience with file sharing, document management and collaboration tools
    • Drawing inspection experience
    • Must be proficient in the use of Autodesk Auto CAD 2D software
    • Exposure to Solidworks 3D CAD software is preferred
    • Overall strong PC skills required
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
    • Must be organized and able to work independently or with a team
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
    • Knowledgeable in dimensioning standards
    • Sense of urgency and self-motivation; ability to work independently and with others
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
    • Computer literacy with ability to learn new computer software programs
    • Attention to detail with strong organizational skills
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Strong mathematical skills
    • Strong time management and organizational skills
    • Ability to travel if required, locally or nationally
