  • Overview

    To provide effective leadership of regional purchasing, planning, and inventory control activities and proper analysis of related data.


    • Optimizes availability, movement and usage of materials through effective management of the site SCM (Supply Chain Management) teams across the assigned region
    • Supervises site Materials Manager, Inventory Control Supervisor, Senior Buyer/Planner, Buyer/Planner and others assigned within a designated region
    • Effectively interfaces with MIWD Production Management, Quality Control Management, Continuous Improvement Management IT Management and Engineering organizations to coordinate cross-functional efforts supporting regional SCM objectives
    • Analyzes data related to regional SCM activity and prepares management reports as directed
    • Implements and drives compliance to all company SCM strategies and policies to assure consistent application across the assigned region
    • Leads regional effort to manage demand related data via participation in sales & operations planning (S&OP) processes
    • Leads the regional SCM team to develop, monitor and report on relevant metrics which reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) relative to all direct materials, MRO, scrap materials and supplies
    • Coordinates regional SCM activities with those of other MIWD sites as needed to drive best practices and efficiencies
    • Assist Corporate SCM in the negotiation and/or maintenance of national supply agreements


    • BS/BA in Business Management or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education to successfully perform the essential functions of the position
    • APICS or ISM Certification preferred
    • Five to ten years materials management experience in a multi-site manufacturing facility
    • Knowledge and ability to deploy APICS, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, and Lean Manufacturing concepts
    • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, problem solving and computer skills
    • Ability to multi-task and effectively motivate team members and others with diverse backgrounds
    • Ability to use Microsoft Office Software and DataWorks or other operating systems as required
